The 12th International Rexx Symposium

30 April-2 May 2001
Research Triangle Park
North Carolina
USA
Sponsored by the Rexx Language Association

Plan now to attend The 12th International Rexx Symposium for Developers and Users in the Research Triangle Park on 30 April -2 May, 2001. The Symposium provides a focal point for information about the Rexx family of languages and a venue for technical interchange among members of the Rexx community.

The 2001 Rexx Symposium highlights the multi-platform capabilities of the Rexx Language. Some topics to be covered:

Don't miss the Rexx Shootout where proponents of Rexx on different platforms take the same application and demonstrate the benefits of their favorite solution. So far, we have codeslingers for Windows, Java, TSO, and Linux.
"So you gotta ask yourself: do you have another platform? Well, do you, punk?"

Mike Cowlishaw, IBM Fellow and author of Rexx and NetRexx, will be covering aspects of the addition of Rexx's Decimal Arithmetic to the Java Language.

Professor Rony Flatscher of the Vienna University of Business Administration and Economics plans to demonstrate the use of the Java Bean Scripting Framework from Rexx.

Manfred Schweizer, Manager of Rexx Development at IBM, will discuss new developments in the IBM Rexx family, including Rexx availability under the Windows Scripting Host facility.

Mark Hessling of QCOM Australia, author of THE, Rexx/SQL, and other Rexx external function packages and maintainer of the Regina Rexx Interpreter and Rexx/Tk also plans to attend and show that real-world, cross-platform GUI products can be written in Rexx.
