The 2000 International Rexx Symposium

24-26 May 2000
Phoenix, AZ USA

You are cordially invited to attend The 2000 International Rexx Symposium in Phoenix, Arizona. The Rexx Symposium provides a focal point for the exchange of technical information and software solutions provided by the Rexx family of programming languages.

Sessions will address such topics as using Rexx to solve awkward business problems, creating Internet and intranet Java solutions, rapid application development and deployment, database access routines, handy utilities, and aftermarket Rexx function/class libraries. The program will span the full range of platforms on which the Rexx languages are implemented, including Windows, Unix and Linux, as well as all IBM operating systems. Time will be allotted for Rexx software vendors to demonstrate new and enhanced product offerings and offer technical assistance.

Mike Cowlishaw, IBM Fellow and the creator of Rexx and NetRexx will discuss the latest developments in NetRexx, the easiest way to program in the Java environment. Manfred Schweizer, Manager of Rexx Development will be on hand from the IBM Software Development Labs in Boeblingen, Germany to answer questions about the Rexx family of products.

Our venue will be the world-renowned Wigwam Resort, a Mobil Guide Four-Star and AAA Four-Diamond property outside of Phoenix, Arizona. The resort was built in 1918 by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a private lodge for visiting company executives. The Wigwam's Executive Chef was once a White House Chef, and the cuisine reflects his uncompromising approach to quality and excellence. If you are a golfer, the Wigwam boasts three outstanding courses, two of which were designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.

Sponsored by the Rexx Language Association.

Adjunct Activities

WarpTech will be held the following weekend 26-28 May at the Wigwam. This three day, details-oriented technical conference for OS/2 enthusiasts is being sponsored by the Phoenix OS/2 Society, Inc (POSSI). The first day of WarpTech will overlap with the last day of the Symposium in order to accomodate the large number of OS/2 users interested in Rexx, and vice versa. Depite being ignored by the press, OS/2 is thriving in the corporate datacenter and on sophisticated desktops world-wide. Stay for the weekend and take advantage of the exciting program they have put together!

The ANSI Standard Committee for Rexx will meet in conjunction with the Symposium. This committee developed and maintains the ANSI Standard for Rexx and will meet Tuesday 23 May, at the Resort. Anyone interested in Rexx or the ANSI Standard is welcome to attend. Contact the committee Chair, Dr. Brian Marks for further information.
