The 2006 International Rexx Symposium will return to sunny Austin, Texas, USA for the first time in a decade!

The Symposium will be held at the Omni Austin Hotel at Southpark in Austin, Texas, the new home of Rexx development in IBM. It has been six years since a Rexx Symposium was last held in Central USA.

Due to continued interest in Open Object Rexx, the Symposium will again be extended to four days. In addition to open source Rexx issues, the technical program will feature topics addressing Rexx solutions to business problems, application development challenges, Rexx language enhancements and extensions, novel Rexx programming ideas, and the design and implementation of Rexx interpreters and compilers.

The full range of Rexx platforms and environments will be represented, from the mainframe to the desktop to mobile hardware, and from legacy operating systems to Linux to Java to mobile environments.

Proposals for Symposium presentations and papers are hereby solicited!

Presentations and papers in the following topic areas are of particular interest:

The Sunday before the Symposium (9 April 2006) will be dedicated to informal tutorials, followed by an ice-cream social reception. Proposals for two- to four-hour tutorial presentations are solicited at this time as well.

Attendees will range from those who are relatively new to Rexx to authors of Rexx language processors. Presentations are requested at all audience levels: introductory, tutorial, practitioner, and advanced.

Session Details

Session proposals should include the following: For an example, see this Sample Session Proposal.

Sessions are one hour long, but alternative durations can be accommodated on request. Speakers should allow ample time for questions and demonstrations.

Presentation and paper proposals must be submitted by email to abstracts@rexxla.org and received by 24 February 2006 to be considered. Submittors will be notified of acceptance by 3 March 2006 via email.

In order to be included in The Proceedings of the Rexx Symposium for Developers and Users (ISSN 1534-8954), a publication-ready version of the presentation or paper (preferably in PDF) must be received by 7 April 2006.
